Review on 🐠 Enhance Your Aquarium: EHEIM Classic External Canister Filter with Media by Nicole Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A few issues but otherwise good.

Two problems with the delivered goods.1. The shipping packaging leaves a lot to be desired. Although it came in a Revain box, due to a lack of padding, a piece of plastic meant to hold one of the clips for the top of the filter penetrated the filter box and broke off.2. The item I received was clearly returned and had no parts. If there weren't an urgent need to get this setup I would return it for a replacement. Aside from those initial hiccups. Setting up this filter is really easy. The included filter media is fully boxed, eliminating the need for additional time to unpack, flush, and install each media element like other canister filters. Simply rinse and pour into a glass. The lid is very easy to attach. Even if the plastic part is broken when the item arrives, I can still attach the lid securely thanks to the clip design. At first I was concerned about the amount of tubing that came with it as other reviews also complained about it, but it turned out to be more than enough and I even had some left over. That being said, my setup is somewhat unique in that the tank is only 9 inches tall and the canister filter is stored just two feet below. I also have a built in heater which greatly increases the return length. What do I really like about it? This filter is so simple that it can be customized. My tank is 36 x 9 x 8 inches, so the atomizer that comes with it is too long to fit on the side of the tank. Since the tube is not fragile, it is very easy to shorten with a dremel. I also drilled extra holes in the atomizer wand to ensure that shortening the wand didn't unnecessarily increase spray power. Second, the inlet pipe is too long for the height of my tank, so I trimmed it down with a dremel as needed. Having been spoiled by self-priming canister filters, I had a brief WTF moment upon powering up. But it's very easy to create a vacuum through the suction tube by sucking the end until it's full of water, closing the end, reattaching it to the filter, then opening it again and turning the filter on. good to go As for the noise. I *think* it's a low whisper. I can't hear it over the noise of my Whisper air pumps. lol I'm very happy so far. The shipping problem definitely needs to be solved, and the quality control of checking the returned items before reshipping will do a great deal to prevent unnecessary returns of these items or bad reviews from many people.
