Review on Aftermarket Front Speaker Adapter Toyota by Tony Cole

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everything is fine with the 2002 Toyota Camry!

Here's what I had to do to get them to work with a 2002 Toyota Camry: It's best to mount the speaker on the adapter before installing it on the car door. Use the template that came with your new speakers to drill four holes in the adapter that will allow you to mount your new speaker to the adapter. I inserted the speaker into the adapter by placing the template between the speaker and the adapter. This will ensure that all four holes line up correctly. Drilling holes is very easy, the adapter is plastic and I used titanium drill bits. Be sure to use the hardware that came with the new speakers and save the four factory screws you use to attach the adapter to the door frame. The hardware that comes with these adapters isn't really needed and most likely won't work. This is not a problem as new speakers should come with all the mounting hardware you may need to mount the speaker to the adapter (remember to check before you start). After mounting the speaker to the bracket, you can easily mount it to the door frame with the four factory screws. I ended up drilling a slightly wider hole on the left side of the adapter so I could use a custom wire harness to route the new speaker wires through the adapter bracket and connect them to the new speaker. The wires could have run behind the bracket but I definitely didn't want to risk crushing the wires and exposing them to the metal door. I'll probably plug the extra hole with silicone if I think it makes a noticeable difference. It can also be helpful to put a rubber ring around the perimeter of the adapter to eliminate any possible vibration. I didn't notice any vibration after the initial install, but that's something I didn't take into account until after the install was complete, so think about it beforehand. The adapters worked like clockwork, I'm so glad I didn't have to replace the 6x9 speakers to get the 6.5 working. I have 6x9 to work! :-) Hope that helps.
