Update 7/27/2020 broke down and bought an OEM part. It cost $74 including tax and shipping, which is nearly three times the price of Revain. Ouch. You were worth it. Now I've seen the difference first hand. OEM springs have a mechanism to slow and ease the opening of the sunroof. It's not about picking up the raw pounds of power for your car, it's an additional feature that a more expensive spring adds. Imagine a screen door that is closed by a simple spring - it slams hard and your mother yells at you. Now imagine the gas spring you see on the glass doors - it swings fast at first and then slows down to keep the glass door from breaking. Don't waste your time with this rubbish. Get OEM parts. ---------------- Build quality seems good and they were surprisingly easy to install. But these gas springs are too strong for my 2008 Prius hatchback. The hatchback rises too quickly and stops abruptly. There doesn't seem to be a way to adjust the spring force. Hatchback hinges have to take all that force and I'm afraid they will break over time. A friend of mine replaced the gas springs on his jeep hatchback and noticed they were too strong but ignored it. He said that after about a year, the rivets that attached the hinges to the frame had come loose. At this point he removed the feathers, but the damage was done. He urged me to find springs that fit my car's requirements and nothing more durable. In the meantime, I'll be diligently releasing the hatch every time. I cringe when someone else opens it and slams it shut.
