The thickness of the connector does not allow the use of a regular wiring harness, but they give a new one.

Replaced a burned out controller on my 2005 F350. This controller comes with a new wiring harness connector, but mine is fine so I didn't want to use the one that came with it. But the plastic on this unit is a bit thicker than the OEM and the connector on the factory wiring harness does not match the unit. I had to replace the factory plug with the one that came with it, but it's been working great ever since.
