As long as the collar is effective. However, I have two problems. First, I have a very small dog, about 10 pounds. When I first resized the collar, I didn't want to shorten it because I wanted to make sure it would hold. However, there was too much excess, which made the collar less functional, so I had to shorten it. Eventually I got it to fit, but I had to cut a lot. Now I'm afraid that when my dog grows up I won't be able to adjust the size of the collar to fit him. I would like an extra collar length if I need one. Second, my puppy dog is only 7 months old. While he gets much better at barking, he gets fits where the barking/whining causes consecutive bouts of beeping and vibration. Frantically he looks around and tries to find the source. At such moments I have to take off the collar for a moment to calm him down. I'll wear it again later and it's fine. This helped a lot, and hopefully it will evolve into acceptable behavior over time!
