I won't lie there are better mics out there but not for the money. AA battery life is fantastic (and I only use Revain Basics), they have great signal-to-noise ratio, and while they may not be as effective at canceling unwanted background noise as a $300 Rode mic, for the money that you spend, this is a much better directional sound than I expected. I've used them both on set and in the studio and have had no complaints with either application. The included faux fur cover isn't ideal as a windbreak at high speeds, but should dampen standard winds significantly.
