Review on πŸ’¨ Powerful and Durable: Air King 9212 12-Inch Industrial Grade High Velocity Pivoting Floor Fan by Rhonda Ackerman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Almost perfect (12 " model)

These Air King circulators are the best fans on the market today as most fans made today are designed to fail after two years of use and made from the cheapest materials. This device is all metal, very powerful and quite silent. The details seem to be of decent quality. It uses a cast aluminum ball bearing motor (made in 2016 - they used a cheaper sleeve bearing motor for a while) but it looks like they've reverted to a ball bearing motor like all other fans in the USA, with imported parts of course. Which is better than most fans can offer. But there are a couple of issues I had: - Balance - The blade wasn't aligned or balanced at all from the factory, causing a slight vibration that most non-perfectionists wouldn't notice. This worried me a bit as the fan blade is by far the most important part to get it right. Cost me over CAD$120 for this so I expected they would at least try to balance the blade. This was also an issue with my 20" Air King pedestal fan. - Powder Coating - The finish is amateurish at best, with thick and thin spots, and bare metal is fully exposed in some hard-to-reach places. I could have done better at a 12. - The back of the case - or "swelling" as I call it - is much larger as they use the same plastic backing even on the big fans, this blocks some airflow (as well as engine cooling) and slightly increases the hum of the Motors. It's also the only plastic part of the fan and looks pretty cheap. It also houses a switch that makes it prone to breakage if the fan tips over. It's just bulky and unnecessary. Never mind. - The Lasko/ Fuse Protection Plug Air King is there just to make sure the fan won't run for more than a couple of years, of course the fuse isn't replaceable and there's a label on the cord , which prompts you to dispose of the fan when it stops working. Ridiculous and almost insulting to read after spending so much. Low power output or use in very hot climates may accidentally blow the fuse. So when the fan stops working I cut off the connector and plug in a regular three pin connector with no fuse. That's what the control panel for the whole house is for. Reason for 3 stars despite a few problems? Well, for starters, Patton fans are now made by Jarden, they are very cheap and no different from Walmart branded fans. And the Lakewood fans went broke, only to be later brought back by Jarden. So they're the same bullshit as Patton, but with a different logo. In my opinion, Jarden's companies produce absolute rubbish and almost unsafely cheap products, contributing to the death of American manufacturing and of course the throwaway society. So the Air King is everything that's actually made decently and performs as expected from a high-speed fan, not a spinning noise generator.
