Expensive but attractive design

For some reason I thought it was a larger box, but the box is quite small, the same size as the bracket. The mount is almost entirely plastic, except for an aluminum shell around the back that's added for looks, making it look like a solid piece of aluminum. I guess they could have made the entire back out of aluminum for simplicity, but that would probably have involved additional manufacturing costs. Be warned, this mount is not universal. It looks like it was designed for a tablet, very thin that has a certain conical profile. I'm imagining an iPad or other thin tablet. I don't think this mount will hold an iPad Pro, for example, since the iPad Pro has a non-tapered design. This mount appears to be made for a tablet that is tapered at the back. I'm using it with a very thin Windows tablet, about a quarter inch thick, and the bracket barely reaches the display. The bracket is strong enough for plastic. It doesn't look like cheap plastic at all. They use some kind of heavy-duty gray plastic. There is a slot on the underside of the bracket that allows you to insert the included hex wrench to prevent the fenders from opening. They also offer an adhesive-coated plastic piece that's used to hold the tablet in place. This is to deter theft by preventing the tablet from slipping off the mount. I really don't like putting glue on the back of the tablet. I think something like that can cause damage. But glue is used in case you need to prevent theft. If you don't have to worry about that, you can simply use the locking mechanism to prevent accidental opening of the wings. In fact, you should use a locking mechanism to prevent your tablet from accidentally falling off the mount. The wings provide adequate tension on the tablet, but should be locked in place for security unless you frequently need to remove the tablet. In summary, I think this mount is the best I've seen. Seems to be very well made and very durable. However, I find the price too high. It's plastic, after all, and it doesn't look like it's worth more than $45. I note that this product is not made in China but in Germany, so it is made there and that it has a very good design is reflected in the price.
