I didn't fall here *knock on wood* but this armor is awesome! The plastic seems very strong (I can't bend it at all). The mesh is breathable, which is a heavenly attribute to live in Florida. I bought the 3XL as a 5ft 11,220lb woman with broad shoulders and it fits great. I was apprehensive after reading some of the reviews but this fits very well. You can tighten the armor anywhere and any way you like, and the back is actually removable. It's superbly made and the mesh feels durable to withstand prolonged use (barring falls, of course). Not only do I look cool, I feel cool and very protected.
