When you live in cramped spaces, a simple metal frame comes in very handy. This Heavy Duty Wire Shelving Unit from Rubbermaid has 4 tiers and is just over 38" from the top shelf. It sits straight and secure. However, it is not hard work. I wouldn't stand on it, I wouldn't put a huge stack of cookbooks on it. When I press the tray, some of the food in the stand also wiggles. So... not for heavy loads, it's meant for lighter stuff. If heavy duty means versatile rugged, I'll go for it. I find it useful for storing towels, shoes, a kitchen pantry, or anything else in a dorm. Requires assembly which takes approximately 45 minutes. I've been looking for the right screwdriver for a long time. The screws are tiny, so I used the shortest Phillips head (pictured) to get the most leverage. I expected more from Rubbermaid.
