Review on White Senville Dual Zone Mini Split Air Conditioner Heat Pump, 28000 BTU, Alexa Compatible - SENA-30HF/D by Rance Riley

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great until it's not.

I installed this unit in April to serve 3 bedrooms in a single story ranch house while replacing a central unit due to cost. It cooled wonderfully. Very quite, very efficient, etc as everyone says of minisplits. Then came the heating season. At first the unit would go into defrost mode every 15 minutes, in 40 degree weather. Not good, as this kills efficiency and makes much more work for the compressor. Now the unit will cycle on and off when heating long before the set temp is reached inside. On 10 off 5 kind of thing.Tech support has suggested a few ideas but nothing definitive or very helpful. I'm awaiting their response from a few follow-up questions. Now I'm going to be calling local heating and air companies. We'll see. Will update the review when this issue is resolved.UPDATE 12/14/19That issue has since resolved itself. it seems. for now. Unit is working fine. Adjusted review from 2 to 4 stars because it does seem like a nice unit.Update Jan 2020It still cycles in and out of defrost mode very frequently. 2 different local installers have inspected it and didn't find anything wrong. I finally got instruction from tech support to test for a faulty outdoor motherboard. A local HVAC company and I determined this to be the case.Update 2/12/20$200 dollars later a new motherboard appears. It's not under warranty even though its less than a year old because I installed it myself. I install the new motherboard. No dice.I now get an F5 error code and all indoor units display its in defrost and do not come on (fan not operating and outdoor unit doing nothing.Getting help from Senville is like pulling teeth.Update 5/2/20Senville sent me another motherboard at no cost. So I hire a local HVAC company to come out to troubleshoot and get technical support on the phone. Experts talking to experts. Surely they can figure it out. Nope. After all is said and done, I've paid for two separate companies to look at the unit. They both conclude a new motherboard is needed. Senville keeps sending me useless motherboards. and shipping to Quebec to return them is not cheap. The entire thing is extremely frustrating.
