Powerful! Get Rid of Bad Bacterial Blooms in Less Than 1 Day!

We purchased this UV lamp because harmful bacteria were growing in our 15 gallon tank. It had a cloudy/milky white appearance, which was enough to cause problems for plants that weren't getting enough light. We've tried numerous water changes but it came right back, so we figured a UV sterilizer was the best way to deal with it. We put this bulb in an optional supplemental filter (a Whisper 30 with the filter material removed; it barely fit) and ran it with the filter on the lowest flow setting for about 7 hours. After 7 hours the water looked much cleaner. We removed the lamp and went to bed. The next morning the canister filter has removed all of the dead bacteria and the water is now crystal clear! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get rid of a bacterial problem quickly. Sorry I didn't think to take a before and after photo. Note: This lamp MUST be used in a filter or separate sump/tank OUTSIDE the main part of the aquarium as it will definitely harm the fish and plants. This is clearly stated in the instructions. Bonus: This lamp can also be used out of the water for general UV sterilization. I used it to fix a moldy/moldy guitar case problem. BUT you must be careful when handling an active lamp! Please wear UV-blocking eye protection and avoid exposing it to your skin for more than a few seconds. It is strong enough to burn the retina and prolonged skin contact can be dangerous. Don't forget that this light kills bacteria, mold and viruses by damaging their DNA with ionizing radiation, and it can do the same to you!
