Review on Dorman 917 706 Camshaft Position Sensor by Adam Quintana

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Lasts 3 years/25,000 miles vs. Original Mopar 15 years/125,000 miles

75% cheaper than Original Mopar kit, lasts 20% longer. A Mopar part costs 5x more, lasts 5x longer, so it's not really a better or worse VALUE, just the inconvenience of replacing that part more often or failing at the wrong time. FYI, when the camshaft sensor fails, the car stalls/won't start. Sometimes they "start" to fail (set code P0340) and the machine restarts, but once it starts it eventually fails completely. I wrote this review after replacing this faulty part for the second time. Even on an 18 year old car, this time I've opted for a more durable genuine Mopar part for peace of mind and not to worry about it breaking or getting stuck somewhere.

Pros
  • No special tools required
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other kits
