It arrived in a tightly sealed useless plastic box with a small screwdriver. The screwdriver is used to open the battery compartment with four small Phillips screws. They are difficult to open, especially with the supplied screwdriver. If you have a better one, use the better one. Replacing the batteries for this device is a chore and it's easy to lose tiny screws. Now that I'm done with the complaint, the device works well and is accurate compared to a much larger calibrated level. The controls are simple, the buttons are obvious, and the brief instructions are clear. One star for those four little screws.
