I've never had a special container for storing rice, but after having it, I don't know how I could do without it. I plan to get another one for the second rice variety. I use both basmati and jasmine, and these types of rice keep well in airtight containers. The measuring container is also your seal. Japanese measurements are different than ours and I like having them for my rice cooker, although it also has a measuring cup. Not used for brown rice as not much is bought and much is stored as it will go rancid if not used quickly enough. I would recommend this article and I don't see why anyone would leave a negative comment if they don't understand how it works.
