Still a great price

Since most of the reviews for this product were from when HD-DVD was still in production, I thought it might be helpful to write a review after the demise of HD-DVD . Format. I still think it's a great value today. As you can see, you can get used versions of this device pretty cheaply (I bought mine for $20). Microsoft continues to support gamers, so even with the latest Xbox update, you can rest assured that this device will still work. In addition, many HD DVD movies are fairly easy to find for a relatively low price. Most films are available for less than $5 and many for as little as $2 or $3. Obviously, most people don't want every movie to be released on HD-DVD, but you're bound to find a few favorites. I saved over $170 on HD DVD and Blu-ray movies. There are even a few favorites that haven't been released on Blu-Ray yet. In terms of sound and picture quality, they are on par with their Blu-ray counterparts. You don't really get full audio quality due to the Xbox's capabilities, but the difference is so minimal you'd only know if you had a $1,000 sound system and two movies side-by-side. The picture quality is amazing. For most titles, you don't even need to look for a comparison DVD, you'll know right away that this is a huge improvement. Because the drive is an extension of your Xbox, most universal remotes will work with play, pause, skip, etc. movies. Game for watching movies. But for the very affordable cost of these drives, it's a wise investment.
