No idea about coconut oil, but the selection is awesome! I like it! I have very curly hair that I let grow out. Needless to say, I need volume in places I never did when it was a pretty bob. This allows me to dig under the beautiful top curls to curl the bottom ones, giving me the right body so I don't have a triangular head. The brush is strong, smooth and doesn't hurt my hair at all. It's a regular size so it's not very small but I carry it in my purse all the time to make sure I have a haircut in the afternoon if needed.
