Preheat cold/frozen foods in the microwave to avoid "heat stroke " which can cause plates to crack.
Made from porcelain that does not heat up in the microwave so the handles stay cool enough. Small handles make work easier! The smaller size is perfect for small groups/you or your friends; not like many plates that have increased in size over the years (and we wonder why we always get fat from overeating). Their long, narrow shape allows them to be arranged in a circle around the rim of the microwave turntable (leaving the center open for more even heat). This is the second set I've ordered and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a smaller plate for cooking/serving.
