Measurements for this are exactly as stated in most reviews. For a fitted look, I would decrease your original size. However if you want a looser fit I would go to your normal size. I went for a slim fit so I went for medium but I'm usually tall. I'm also very petite so the length of the shorts is perfect and covers the entire butt, not overpowering at all. I love that they are reversible and you can carry the pockets on either side. The corduroy material has no stretch, but is very warm in autumn and winter with a sweater underneath and knee-high boots! The best addition to my wardrobe!
