Review on πŸ₯§ MasterChef Mini Pie and Quiche Maker with Non-stick Coating - Cooks 6 Small Pies and Quiches in Minutes, Includes Dough Cutting Circle for Convenient Measurement by Heather Preston

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Some design issues lowered the rating

I received my cake maker a few days ago and tested it this morning. I decided to try two savory recipes - sausage pie with rustic sauce and cheeseburger cake. They turned out better than I expected, so running the machine itself isn't a problem (the instructions say your first batches of cakes will most likely not be successful). My complaints relate to the design of the machine and the lack of clear directions/instructions. First, the device doesn't have a switch - you turn it on when you're ready to start cooking. Second, there are two indicators on the cover (green and orange), but the instructions don't say anything about what each of these indicators mean. Third, the cord is hardwired to the unit, so the cord will drag you along and/or get in the way (why didn't they use a cord that looks like an electric frying pan [plug the cord into the unit when you're ready to use] is a mystery to me), fourth, it is difficult to clean as none of the panels are removable. Fifth, the instructions do not state a cooking time (I set the timer for my cakes for 8 minutes but checked at 6 and they were already slightly overcooked). Sixth, the included candy cutter makes circles that are too big for the space between the cake pans in the machine. Seventh, there are no instructions for greasing the cake pans (I didn't and they popped out easily). The cakes themselves are a lot smaller than the machine photos - they are less than 3 inches tall. wide and about an inch deep. My taste was normal considering they were a bit overcooked. I'll probably try a bunch of sweet cakes next time and see how they turn out. However, given how difficult it is to clean, I doubt this little kitchen toy will see widespread use.

Cons
  • Infinitely slow
