I had no problems with this starch alternative. It quickly helped get rid of wrinkles, well, and so far it hasn't stained a single fabric. Don't pay attention to the smell either. It's quite fun to use as it effectively flattens the sewing fabric and adds patching. Definitely helps to give your sewing projects a more polished look. Why not use it for ironing too? I had no problems with coloring.
