I bought a used Canadian Crestliner outboard with a factory installed MinKota front trolling motor. The outlet's wires were severed, and the outlet burned out on initial impact in the water. Dealer replaced with the same standard MinKota circular socket. The same thing happened the next season. The wires did not stay securely on this socket and were pushed down to break off when you inserted the plug and twisted as required to secure it. Stupid and dangerous design. Found this alternative on the web and installed it myself, creating a raised mounting surface and a different sized hole as needed. Completely durable, waterproof and easy to plug in and out. Told my dealer to start installing and move away from traditional setups.
