I'm a bit picky about microfiber towels, I use them to clean the sink, plumbing fixtures, mirrors, kitchens etc. every day. The 350gsm is fluffy enough to really "grip" as you drive it over surfaces, allowing it to pick up and "scratch" anything without damaging it. I only use them with water and they can remove pretty much anything. With a weight of 350 g/m² they are not so heavy and fluffy that they take forever to dry. I use at least 3 a day and hang them damp on the side of the laundry baskets in the closet because I don't want to put them in the laundry basket wet and potentially risk mold. The next day they are pushed into the laundry basket completely dry and the process repeats itself. I've used other microfiber towels and their edges don't warp in the dryer and I think they're just perfect for GSM. About the smell/oily feeling from the packaging. Mine had a slight odor and almost oily feel and the fibers were tangled when I opened the package. I think it's the processing they add to them for transport/storage or something like that. After washing, the fibers are fluffed up, the smell is still very faint, but definitely usable. After two washes the smell is gone. The bottom line is, when you get them, wash them. Wash them twice if you're concerned about a tiny, faint odor (that won't carry over to anything you put them on). I use a fragrance-free detergent because I'm allergic to fragrances and after two washes they don't smell at all.
