Review on COODIA Remote Controlled Dimmable LED Light for Aquarium/Fish Tank (28" – 36") – Color Changing Aquarium Hood Lighting by Dawn Ohara

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Bright and easily adjustable

Very bright and versatile light. At first I was concerned that the receiver for the remote control was left out at the end of the cable next to the transformer and plug. It looks like an IR remote because the remote has a light emitter. It's actually an RF remote control, so it works whether it's in sight or not. I attached it to the side of the tank so it doesn't get lost. The light intensity is controlled by the remote control. The dark and light keys have an inverted feel, not what I intuitively expected. There is a "slow" color changing mode that seems too fast and unsubtle to me. There are also two quick color change modes that are just annoying to look at. However, for a party, it can be a good effect. Colored light can be combined to create up to 15 colors in addition to white light, all dimmable. Other colors are a nice change. The support clips attached to my 20 gallon aqueon and had enough room to slide back and forth for easy access. (I have the same style but a smaller lantern on my 4 gallon betta tank that snaps in very tight). The cap I glued to the front (see photo) is simply because my wife is sensitive to bright light and the Coroplast gas cap I made reflects the glare onto it. It's not the fault of the world.

Pros
  • Top marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Something different
