I am using this hard drive to set up an NVR for video surveillance, the installation is in a remote Location. This caddy SHOULD remember its state after a power outage but mine doesn't and I see several other browsers having the same issue. To check if your hard drive has failed (before you even install the hard drive), plug it in, press the button to turn on the power LED, and then simulate some power failures by plugging and unplugging the power supply . If the LED stays on after each simulated power failure, the device is OK. If the power indicator sometimes does not light up again, then you have a defective device that is not suitable for use in a remote location (the case does not turn on again after a power failure, you have to go to a remote location and press the button every time)
