Review on Twisted Nylon Mason Line Commercial by David Dreher

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Appears to be made not to hold knots.

Goods delivered quickly, well packaged. However, this cord does not hold knots well. (I also ordered the same yarn in yellow, same problem). I ordered this rope to make a net hammock. It seemed ideal for this use. Good yarn gauge and good strength (from the product description "This cord can carry loads up to 160 pounds"). To tie a net, hundreds of knots need to be tied with a double bend of the cloth with a synthetic fishing line. But the knots continued to slip, causing the net to slip. No matter how hard I pull on the knot, many then slip off. I resorted to connecting each mesh with two double leaf bending knots. This method worked, but some still slipped later after the initial tension test went well. Way: square knot, bowline knot, standard leaf bending knot, etc. The knots held normally as long as the line on them was taut, but as soon as the tension was released, the knots would open from the compressed solid state and the knot would slip. Very disappointed with this cord. I can't find it useful for everything I do. This might work well for other purposes, but not for everything I would use a line for. For example, I would never trust him when camping.

Pros
  • SYNTHETIC STRENGTH: Our line is made from strong and durable synthetic nylon fibers for long line life. These synthetic fibers make our line naturally resistant to moisture, chemicals, oils, rot and all weather conditions - no matter how extreme.
