I needed to connect 2 houses that were 1500 feet apart on my farm. It was pretty easy and simple. Just use the "preconfigured" method instead of GUI etc. I used 50ft CAT6 network cables on both sides to get them on the roof of two houses. First I turned on 2 (both side by side), pressed the RESET button on both at the same time, which caused them to pair. When the blinking green indicator is solid green, it means the connection is successful. Next - I checked and left both in the same room. MASTER is connected to the internet router and SLAVE is connected to my laptop. The Internet was successfully spread by 2! . Now part of Installation 2 came on top of two separate houses 1500 feet apart. What I did. Make sure the two devices are facing each other. Although they don't have to face each other PERFECTLY. They "connected" easily at such a distance from each other. It took about 2 minutes to reconnect after reconnecting to POE power in another house. One small downside to watch out for: the 2 green lights on the side are REALLY dim. So faint that in broad daylight they appear unlit at all. For a while I thought the devices wouldn't turn on - possibly because of a defective cable. But then I wrapped my arms around the lanterns and peered in - and saw that the light was indeed lit. In the second house I connected the LAN output to a WLAN router using a small black power/POE adapter. This means that this second home is now fully connected to the Internet via WLAN. Works perfectly. I used a little "trick" that I thought helped get a stronger signal. I had an old "rest" parabolic antenna on the roof of the second house. I turned it to face the MAIN house and placed the SLAVE in the focus of the bowl.
