Pros: Very hot and even flame that is somewhat adjustable (it doesn't change much from low to high). It's very compact to have such a large fuel capacity. It's also very high quality and should offer long-term reliability if you're using premium butane. I used a couple of Colemans from an 8oz notched collar top. maybe a few times and it doesn't burn as cleanly as the nifty premium lighter brands. If you don't smoke cigars, use cleaner butane to extend the life of your torch. I had to clean the flame outlet with a soft bristled toothbrush and 91% isopropyl alcohol to get it working reliably again. Disadvantages: actually only one; The base is unstable so definitely cannot sit down while the flame is locked in the "ON" position. I can't believe this is a security issue at all. To fix a flame on something at 2000+ degrees you can drop some wire and shrink it and burn who knows what, or ignite the stogie and set your chair or rug on fire. But we (should) be responsible adults, so I only use the auto flame feature when I really have to.
