Works with proper grounding. If you are not grounded you can just keep the pl259 in the air. I only installed it temporarily on a 10ft metal antenna mast buried 3ft in the ground. I grounded it to the pole and also to the house power supply. I'm in Arizona and can listen to 20m FT8 stations on the East Coast and Hawaii. Now I hear Brazil and Argentina on 15 meters. on 17m in Eastern Canada and many US stations.
