White spots on leaves after a few days in the tank

The funniest reaction at first was that my Betta was very startled when I added this leaf to his 3.5 gallons. then I broke the pieces and added what seemed normal to him. I haven't noticed any major effects from twisting its fins. I added another sorority reference and they seem to have ignored it. I cooked the leaf before putting it in the tanks. But today, a few weeks later, I see white things on a leaf without knowing what it is. I removed it from the tank, do you have any idea what it is?
