If you've been thinking about getting a letter scale lately, but you've been hesitant, OR you just need a new scale that's accurate, easy to use, reliable, and a good size (8th Gen "wide x 8" long x 2 1/8" high), please read on. I've recently started selling things on eBay and although I'm delighted every time I sell something, it is has become very tedious and packing and shipping is a time consuming task First I have to pack my box, then take it to the US Post Office to have it weighed, go home and get the e-Bay/PayPal tag with the correct weight print it out and then take it back to the post office. That's two trips to the post office for each day I sell/ship something. $39.99 but I found it too expensive. Maybe the postal scale is accurate to 1 ounce (that's 2 Ounces at light weight - shows 1 decimal place for U ns and roundings), but I don't need that level of precision. Either way, I always have to throw in an ounce or two for scotch, a little extra peanut or bubble wrap, and maybe even a last-minute freebie to throw in. This scale is ideal for everyday use. It's fairly small, which I like, and doesn't weigh much, but it looks and feels good and is fairly durable. Mine didn't need to be calibrated. It was just right out of the box. (Checked 5 items on scale at post office when not busy). I shipped about 20 small and medium boxes in the first 3 weeks and they were all in place. I've used it to send oversized letters, packages up to 15 pounds and when I needed 10 ounces. Broccoli for a new recipe we tried. For now, this is an excellent home scale at a reasonable price. It is not difficult, very easy and intuitive to use. And it saved me extra trips to the post office every day, which means 30-45 minutes for something else, plus fuel savings. With two kids in college, I always collect something to send to them. This has made it a lot easier and the kids are actually getting more treats from home because I have more time now. I bought mine through EZ SELL for $17.59 and only wish I could buy it sooner and make my life a little easier. . What you need to know: It has an on/off switch. The LCD display is bright and the numbers are large and easy to read. It has a "Hold" button so you can see the weight of the package after you take it off the scale. (Particularly useful when the package is large and obscures the weight display). It has a "Tare" button so you can weigh an empty container and the scale will only show the additional weight of the contents. (if you need it) Press the "Mode" button to toggle between Pound: Ounce, Decimal Pound, Kilogram: Gram, Decimal Kilogram. All keys are clearly marked. Has an auto shut off time of 2 minutes if you forget to turn it off. The foldable back allows you to weigh items that need to be supported on something. It runs on 2 included AA-b batteries (if you want to move it around easily) or an included AC adapter. Supports weight from 0.2 oz to 55 lbs. 10 year limited manufacturer warranty.
