I would like to mention that I still have a couple of the old gold ones which like many others are reinforced with metal and tape after the hinges failed. I saw them on the horizon and decided to upgrade. I'm glad I did. It doesn't look like the same fate will befall them. When I unpacked them, the first thing I noticed was how light they are. This is good for longer sessions. They feel like a mature product and don't feel cheap thanks to premium finishes and earcups. The fit is comfortable but I've never had an issue with gold and have never tried platinum for comparison. seem to be. They're noticeably louder than the previous iteration and present fuller and warmer lows and mids, at least to my ears. The microphone was a little quiet for my party at first, but it's easy to adjust. The side effect is still relevant and works well, with the virtual 7.1 surround option showing a wide soundstage that maintains a clear and well-mixed presentation. The battery is still a meager 570mAh, so be prepared to charge it before use. Companion app offerings have been limited to just three developer-enhanced user profiles. Some kind of crap. Sure, these aren't Sennheiser's audiophile masterpieces, but they're no junk as many reviewers might portray them as compared to the Astros, Turtle Beaches, and Steel series that the community has been craving. It's arguably the most attractive wireless option in the price range if it's primarily geared toward PS4 gaming. They just work. They have all the buttons needed for chat (in the same places as the previous model). If you liked the gold wireless headset, you might like it. I do.
