Review on πŸ”Œ Legrand 1597TRWPDB Self-Test Screwless Resistant Outlet Cover by Yung Kaelin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent quality and A+ on instructions

I replaced a miswired outlet in my living room with this Legrand Pass & Seymour GFIC outlet and I'm pleased to know our home is a little safer now is. (I used a Sperry Instruments GFI6302 GFCI outlet/socket tester to identify bad outlets.) The polarity has been reversed, which may make it unsafe. Legrand designed this product to be very user-friendly. The installation instructions are excellent and helped me install 2 cables (step 7B on the diagram). I can do housework but I consider myself a beginner in electrical things and didn't really understand what to do until I read the instructions. If you only have 1 cable it's very easy. Legrand even sealed the top set of connectors by default. Since my cables were short, I took the opportunity to insert the rear cabling. I like the way Legrand designed this - slip the wire through the hole and tighten the clamp screw on the side. If you need to swap the wires, it's very easy to unclip them and try again. The previous socket also had snaps, but the release is horribly engineered: to loosen the wire, you have to insert a flathead screwdriver into a small slot. only realized it when it was time to put it on. Luckily I had a spare bezel (from a TP-Link light switch). The previous bezel had 2 cutouts instead of one large rectangle.
