I used it dry on my heavy dead skin on my heels and it worked great. I hope it stays clear. Edit 7/24/2021 I'm deducting a star for a very obvious design flaw. When I squeeze it to rasp the heel, it's the same direction that the rasp disengages from the handle. So basically the pencil is useless and I just have to hold the rasp when I use it. Please turn the grooves of the connector in the other direction, so that when it is on the handle, you can just press it harder and not remove it. Still pretty sharp after using it about once a month for two years and I still recommend it over any other callus remover I've tried.
