Review on elevated pet bed by Aspen Pet by Monica Woods

Need better stitching and waterproof fabric

I have been looking for a replacement coolaroo bed which my dogs love (we live in sunny Southern California where I believe that it's nice to lie on hot concrete.) And I decided to try this other brand. I was a little wary of the price (cheaper than the Coolaroo) and couldn't tell for sure if the fabric was durable or not. One of Coolaroo's advantages is that the fabric is a thick mesh that is water permeable, not permeable. After a little rain earlier this summer, the puddle stayed for several hours before I knocked the device over. But my 2 dogs (2 Pitty mixes) just love these beds - I accidentally bought 2 but glad I did as they hang out on them all the time - that is when they're not in the mud - hey maybe i need to get more to put OVER the dirt stains in the yard. The frame is also easier to assemble and doesn't seem any less durable than another brand - the reason I had to replace it was because the metal frame was bent, which probably wouldn't be the case with this device. I highly recommend it. UPDATE 9 MONTHS LATER: 2 stars as the fabric was separating and fraying along the stitch line on both units - one dog is 98lbs and the other is 60. Even after reinforcing the seams with heavy gauge thread when sewing. Machine, the fabric was frayed at the seam and ripped where it hadn't been reinforced. Even though it doesn't rain often in San Diego, you should be aware that when it rains, the bed turns into a huge puddle, the fabric does not let water through - a great advantage of the coolaroo brand - in warm weather it's also hotter here, obvious as the fabric is very dense. Back to Coolaroo, although the frame is actually easier to build.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • I have no bad feelings about this everything is fine
