These headphones do what they're supposed to do - drown out the outside world so you can hear what you want to hear. They also only work as "noise absorbers" if you just want the noise to go away. I fly a lot on planes, trains and subways and these headphones have never stopped interfering with noise when I needed to be a little quieter. Forget the expensive ones - they work just as well as this one. I've had four pairs over the years and never had a problem (other than destroying them when travelling/packing). They are well built and "do their thing".
