Review on UltrAspire Lumen Waist Light Belt, Lightweight, Water Resistant by Matt Simpsons

Almost Perfect, But Not Quite

I used an UltraAspire 800 lumen belt torch during a 100K race and it worked like clockwork...at first. I used it on the highest/brightest setting and felt like I was wearing a mini headlight around my waist. I love it! Also, I walked all by myself for most of my night. But then... the battery died. I literally stood still, in the middle of the desert, in the pitch black night, and called out a word I won't repeat here. (I'll give you a tip. It rhymes with duck.) Luckily, I had a 200-lumen Petzl headlamp, but the little thing was very weak compared to the 800-lumen UltraAspire hiptorch I was using right now . My little headlamp helped me get through the rest of the race, but I found myself running much slower and riding long stretches of unfamiliar sections of track. The lighting conditions made me squint as I drove slowly for the rest of the race. I truly believe that if the batteries in my belt lantern had lasted longer I would have finished the race much sooner. But since the batteries were dead, I was afraid of tripping over one of the technical trail's rocks sticking out of the ground. Conclusion: If you decide to use this hip belt, you should definitely buy an extra pair of batteries. For real. This gives you peace of mind and you don't have to waste valuable energy feeling nervous, stressed or angry. Or, in my case, all of the above. If I could turn back time I would buy an extra set of batteries.
