Offers good protection for certain use cases, on the heavy side

I bought some of these hard cases for my laptops. They're great for my use case, but there are many caveats if your use cases are different. On the one hand, they offer laptops with an aluminum housing very good protection against dents, scratches and fingerprints. They do not have increased strength and therefore do not provide adequate protection against falls. Due to the open nature of the case, they ensure good ventilation, but this also means that dust can get under the case. My use cases include 80% usage on my desk at home and 20% on the go or in my laptop bag and I'm happy with the protection it offers. As already mentioned, the ventilation is quite good. It doesn't *exactly* match the laptop's vents, but it doesn't seem to impede airflow. All ports are available without problems. The main disadvantage of these cases is the hard plastic that can (and will) crack. Most often, these malfunctions are associated with small clips that attach the sleeve to the laptop. Once they break, the case becomes unusable. At the same time, the hard plastic prevents the usual dents on the aluminum trim. Three years later, my laptops still look brand new on the outside. Other issues include the rubber feet that come loose after a few months, the relative weight of the case, and the almost useless feet that are too wobbly for comfortable use (and break). But I still give it five because it fits my use case perfectly. I have to prevent scratches and dents, pay little attention to weight and paint laptops depending on the project. After a few years, these cases look pretty battered, with scratches, soldering iron marks, faded spots where I spilled solvent, sticker residue, etc., but the laptops themselves look pristine.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
