I discovered this substance while working with my father-in-law - he bought it from a pool shop somewhere in California and it seems his tube will last forever was somewhere around (old) but still worked great - he swears by it. I borrowed it once when I decided to get my own and not be so hunched over so I got a 4 and gave it a 2. It's great for any plumbing project involving gaskets, threads or other mating surfaces, and I've even used it on non-plumbing projects such as: my Vacu-Vin wine priming flask - to lubricate the often wet plastic parts at the end of a hose. Threads, hose nozzle pistons, loose rubber hoses or fittings on pipes/nipples - nylon wheel/axle lubrication and great for sliding vinyl window rails (just a swipe!) - it's better than the PTFE or silicone you find in big department stores. Plus, it's safe to use in drinking water sources! I highly recommend it.
