Review on NETGEAR Centria Gigabit Wireless WNDR4700 by Kevin Graham

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The equipment works great. Manual/Netgear tech support is useless.

Pretty easy installation. I have an odd DSL setup, so not only was it plug and play, it was pretty damn close. I had to log into the device and change its IP address for it to work. But pretty easy to do. And the device found out my Telekom DSL connection and asked for my DSL username and password. The router also does an excellent job of uploading media to social networking sites. My old router crashed and wouldn't let me post high quality pictures. This router does. Reason for only 3 stars? This device can use a SATA hard drive for media sharing. Unfortunately, the link to the hard drive compatibility webpage in the user guide (online and in the printed copy that came with the device) does not work. And to get web chat help, you need a serial number. Therefore, if you are not near the device, you will not be able to get help in web chat. I had to use online email support. They replied in their favor within 3 hours. However, it was obvious that the person didn't read my comments or knew anything about the device because he sent me a link to USB compatible drives instead of SATA compatible drives. I also tried searching online for compatible hard drives and couldn't find anything similar either on the internet in general or on the Netgear website. Bottom line, I would buy this router again and was willing to give it 4 or 5 stars. . However, if you provide an online user guide, you should verify that the links actually work. And have someone actually read the request for help. I didn't even mention USB drives in my help request.
