Review on License Plate Rear Camera Built Car & Vehicle Electronics by Keith Harris

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Outstanding for the price!

10/26/16 UPDATE: Another year of ownership (3+) has passed. The case is very faded and has turned dark grey, but the device still works perfectly. ------------------- ----------------- ------------------- ----------------- ------------------- ----------------- -------------------------------- I had this hooked up to my Pioneer AVH-P8400BH for about two years and what a worth it was. It's almost weird now to service a car without them and it's holding up really well. It looks great during the day and is very comfortable to use at night, although the image can be muddy in dimly lit areas. To my surprise, the image is noticeably better than the stock camera in my mate's Infinity G25, but if you're expecting cutting-edge tech, you'll be disappointed. After installation I had no mechanical problems with it. The black color of the case has faded a bit after about a year, obviously it does matter how much direct sunlight it gets. As a reference, the grid can be pretty useless unless you're parking on a completely flat surface. I've learned to measure the distance to where the back line (on the pavement, not the grille) just disappears under my bumper. Of course, the car and the camera angle affect the distance.

Pros
  • MARINEGRADE WATERPROOF: The Pyle camera with license plate adjuster has a high water resistance rating of IP67. This means the camera will never fog up or get wet, even in a storm or a bad rainy day. Integrated defog and excellent low light performance
Cons
  • Available in black only
