If you use municipal water in your household and live in the US, chances are your water is fluoridated and you don't need extra toothpaste. Does this affect the effectiveness of the toothpaste? I'm not sure but it seems to be working well, my teeth look and feel clean. A 4 ounce tube seems to last about a month if brushed twice a day. The ingredient list has several long chemical names, but each of them is explained in parentheses, but some of those names are still intimidating. For example, "Cocamidopropyl Betaine" is referred to as "detergent". So who knows? Additionally, since it's made of charcoal, it can make a mess when you spit it out. FYI, you must flush your sink after each use!
