Review on 💡 Cable Matters SFF 8643 Internal Breakout by Marfel Fekete

I bought this SAS drop cable because I didn't want to spend money on a SAS/SATA backplane. I quickly realized that having a backplane is best! While the cable worked great, I've had two instances where my RAID array failed due to accidental disconnection of either the power cable or the SATA cable. On a non-RAID system, you can simply reconnect the missing cable and reboot. When using RAID, each newly attached drive must be rebuilt from scratch. If you're considering building a RAID array, I recommend spending the money on an ICY DOCK ToughArmor SAS/SATA backplane to avoid random RAID problems.
