I excitedly requested these headphones to try some "audiophile" headphones but they are pretty cheap headphones pretending to be headphones. and there is a wide range of ear tips and even some spares. Good start. The instructions are short and clear, but do not reveal which plug is on the left and which is on the right of the detachable cable. I guessed "red right" and was right. They're comfortable enough to wear, they're not heavy, and the loop on the ears helps keep them in place. Many tips make it easy to find a good seal. The cable is quite durable, although it looks fragile. The silver 3.5mm jack and other metal parts look too bright and shiny/cheap. Aesthetics in general is an issue for me. It took me a long time to choose a color because the little blue oval badge looked gaudy on product shots (and just as gaudy in person). Blue on blue was the most discreet option, but they still look like cheap buds. The name doesn't match the name on the packaging either, so they're probably listed under half a dozen other brands. I asked my wife how much she thought they might cost. Her estimate, based on looks, was $15 to $20. This conversation happened after I had already listened to them and frowned, so maybe that influenced their assumption. You don't sound very good. My interpretation of the word "audiophile" is the ability to hear details in music that I would miss with smaller headphones, perhaps deviating from a perfectly flat frequency response in a way that emphasizes certain frequencies in a pleasing way. Or in a flattering way. This is not what the iBasso IT01X headphones do. Maybe the clue is in the name, but they just drown in bass. It's not very well defined, making everything else audibly muddy right down to the mids and highs. Playing some blues/rock that I'm familiar with was annoying as all the subtleties were gone. I tried out some hard rock and found a few tracks that sounded ok, but a decent IEM set doesn't have to be as genre specific as I don't. I want to listen to my favorite genres on it. This is a big disappointment. Can't recommend them for blues, rock or anything subtle because the low end is a mess. Maybe for electronics, dance, rap?
