This only has 1 star because I can't give it any stars. I'm a graduate student and I use portable hard drives all the time for my studies. I bought some extra cables because on the billions of trips between school and home I lost my original cables to connect portable hard drives to the computers I use at school (animation and video editing). I bought these cables to have reliable backups. I wanted specially braided cables because I needed extra strength. I wish I could tell it was just a wire and that it was an accident or just luck. but BOTH cables (yes I bought a pair so I have a handy stock in case of an emergency) BOTH cables refuse to connect between my hard drives and work computers. Tested the hard drive with 3 other cables which are NOT the ones this review is about and the hard drive bracket is fine. I'm using one of the 2 cables I bought and the 2 computers I tested "see" something connected, but they don't mount the hard drives. The drives I use are LaCie Secure Portal Drives. I did tests on 2T and 1T drives. Same results. They look sturdy and beautiful and feel solid and comfortable in your hands. And I wanted the gold studs to be of the best quality, which was the reason for my purchase. 4 months later. I'm looking for new cables again. If you want to use these cables to connect your hard drive. BEWARE! Your money is better spent elsewhere. (I would have)
