Coming from an Asian family, I was genetically trained to always boil drinking water (filtered or not). Other reasons I should have 24/7 access to boiling hot water are: - I drink a lot of tea (yes, another Asian cliché. Sue me) - I am a heavy consumer of ramen noodles and hate it to wait The kettle to boil, I had a previous Zojirushi for over 8 years and replaced it for 1 reason. The inside of the teapot began to turn orange. Not because it's rusty, but because I stupidly put in UN filtered water and the water in my house obviously has a fair amount of metals in it :(. So just a new boiler and Brita water! Their rice cookers are the bomb too, but me gotta love rice as much as me to pay $$ for one of their rice cookers :)
