I've had this laptop for a few months now and really like it. The size is suitable for a small to medium sized 14 to 15 inch laptop. The fan does a great job of preventing airflow from stopping or stagnating at the bottom of the laptop. On my Alienware M14X, I can lean the front of the laptop against the front edge of the laptop (some might use it as a windowsill to push the laptop to the back of the laptop, but I didn't) and back onto the rubber pads. This arrangement allows for good airflow across most of the bottom of the laptop, including the lower front. The laptop's fan is surprisingly quiet at low speed, audible at high speed but not annoying, and quieter than the fan on my M14X laptop at high speed. .When using the laptop fan at low speed, it is enough that the M14X laptop fan does not rotate during normal computing tasks, and when playing games, the fan at high speed prevents the bottom of the laptop from overheating. Fan wear, it's not worn out on me but if it was it wouldn't be too much of a problem, it's a lot cheaper to replace a laptop than a fan in a laptop. My mother-in-law recently used this portable desk with her 15" Dell laptop while our kitchen is being demolished. This eliminates the need for your laptop's fan to run and prevents demolition dust from entering your laptop, convenient place. The laptop sits comfortably on your lap, and the high-speed fan provides a little cooling for your lap, too. When this laptop wears out I will replace it with a new one of the same model, it's worth it. Money.
