I don't know what others are complaining about. As long as you set it up properly and get air in it, it works fine. You don't even have to open the air valve, mine is almost closed. Right when you turn it on. close air. Then just open it slightly until you see tiny bubbles. Put the cap on and leave it alone. If the tank fills up too quickly or contains mostly clean water, the air valve is open too far. Protein skimmers take time, so take your time. It can take a day to a week before you start seeing dandruff. Luckily, I started seeing this within a few hours. The only two problems I have are the following. The lid is too light and will pop open when bubbles rise. Then the lid turns over and is inside the canister or tank. I had to seal the lid.2. It works in Chamber 1 of the Coralife Biocube if you haven't added a nozzle to the tank. When you add a nozzle to the tank, many of the microbubbles that form enter the tank through the overflow.
