Noise!: Fish and aquatic animals

The skimmer works great and can't stand the loud hum. I called mfg. cannot speak to a living person. Anyone have any other ideas other than throwing the skimmer in the trash?

Biocube 16 Installation / Microbubble Issues

The information provided (diagrams, instructions) for installation in Biocube 16 is incorrect. This will fill the tank with bubbles if it is in compartment 2. Compartment 1 needs to be modified by removing the horizontal part of the bottom to install the skimmer. The company hasn't helped clarify this, but apparently they are correcting incorrect information and charts. Even if it didn't help me.

Not much better than having nothing

It's better than nothing, but not much. Very low power consumption, finicky to install and micro bubbles. I've been using it for 3 weeks, wasted money. The pump is weak and the skimmat is flimsy. When it starts to grab, it overflows, knocks the lid off and vibrates loudly. There are much better options as I think this is a waste and have ordered a Tunze 9001 for my Biocube 32.

Nice little skimmer but the suction is noisy.

Fits perfectly in a Coralife 32 Biocube chamber, but the suction power is loud! I have no issues with microbubbles at all, it just needs a quieter pump. I'm using an InTank media basket with filter floss and chemically pure Elite, so I probably don't see the microbubbles that others have stated. Much better than the first generation skimmer. Enough space for my heater next to it. I'm happy with it!

It works ! for filter

I bought this for another brand Nano 20 gallon reef tank. It is made in the form of a nanocube (Chinese copy). This protein skimmer fits right in the back and let me tell you if you know how to work a protein skimmer this thing is good. I made a very small modification, replacing the airflow regulator with a better one and got better results, but even what was included worked very well. The first is the water level and the second is the air control. Find the right spot and it will take out the…

Be patient and let it break

With the Biocube 32 you're a bit limited on which skimmer to use, so I thought I might at least try it first and then, if not, into the $100-120 arena go small skimmers. I'm glad I tried. Read other reviews, when setting this up, close the air valve fully and barely open it. It doesn't need more. My first 2 days were crazy about the microbubbles too, but when the skimmer broke (which meant dirt was covering part of the sides) my microbubbles were gone. My first 2 weeks was pretty thin skimming…

I don't know what others are complaining about. As long as you set it up properly and get air in it, it works fine. You don't even have to open the air valve, mine is almost closed. Right when you turn it on. close air. Then just open it slightly until you see tiny bubbles. Put the cap on and leave it alone. If the tank fills up too quickly or contains mostly clean water, the air valve is open too far. Protein skimmers take time, so take your time. It can take a day to a week before you start…
