If you're a scout leader trying to teach kids to hike, this piezo lighter is a must have. For some reason, modern kids can't light a match. This is a much better substitute for a match than a small disposable lighter. It has a longer range. It can never be accidentally emptied from your backpack. It cannot be used to set fire to random items in storage. And finally, it's really easy to use. Yes, I know we should be teaching various more traditional ways of lighting the stove, but we have to start somewhere. And given that kids these days are coming to our program earlier and have less experience, that's a good start. Once we've prepared and eaten dinner, we can use friction to start a fire.
